Ideally situated between Bergerac and Sarlat, where Black Perigord meets Purple Perigord, the small village of Baneuil gives its 400 inhabitants a magnificent view over the Dordogne valley.

Here, in the ancient farm of the medieval chateau, we warmly welcome you for an experience filled with delight, serenity and total relaxation.

Whether you come as a couple, a family or a group of friends, you are sure to fall for the charm and magic of La Closerie, just as we did the first time we set foot in the domain.

You can choose Bed & Breakfast and enjoy our fine Perigord cuisine, or opt for self-catering in one of our ancient gites.

We hope to see you soon!

Accommodation

All our bedrooms and suites give you a private bathroom, kitchen or kitchenette and terrace. They accommodate from 2 to 8 guests. For any special request – if you’re travelling in a bigger group, or with several families or you wish to book the whole domain for a party or business event – don’t hesitate to contact us. Together, we’ll find the best solution for combining rooms and facilities to suit your needs!

Our services

Breakfast

We serve a delicious complete breakfast on the terrace or around the fireplace, depending on the season. This is included for bed & breakfast guests and can be reserved for €13,5 by self-catering guests.

Tennis

Fancy a doubles? Or just want to hit a few balls? An enclosed court is available for you near the swimming pool. And if you need rackets, we’ll be happy to provide them.

Heated pool

Come and enjoy our 11 x 5 m swimming pool, heated from may to the end of september. Or just relax around the pool in our sun loungers.

Free Wifi

Everything at Baneuil will make you want to disconnect from the world. But all our suites and bedrooms are equipped with free Wifi.

Cleaning

Cleaning is of course included in the bed & breakfast price. We just ask self-catering guests to kindly tidy the kitchen and bathroom before leaving.

Dinner

Perigord cuisine played an important role in our decision to settle here. Be prepared for some great surprises! Dinner once or twice a week during the season and by reservation only (+/- €42 pp. wine included).

Theme weekends

Perigord offers more than enough to fill your vacation programme. Even so, throughout the season we prepare theme weekends to give you a special, original experience … such as mushroom, wild game or country walk weekends. Let us know if you would like to be kept up to date with our activities.

Wood burners

Although all our rooms are heated, there’s nothing like a glowing fire to create a cosy evening when summer fades. At present, one of our gites has an open fire and two others have their own wood burners.

Spa

Would you like to relax and sip a glass of wine in a Jacuzzi at sunset? Enjoy those magic moments privately in two of our accommodations

Dining

Come and taste our delicious and generous local Perigord cuisine – on the terrace or around the enormous fireplace! Walnuts, truffles, ceps, girolle mushrooms, strawberries and of course… duck! Foie gras, breast, fillet, salad, confit,…duck is a popular choice in the 4-course menu we prepare once or twice a week during the season (on reservation only).

An example of our menu: aperitif, appetizers, tourin garlic soup, homemade foie gras, duck breast with pan-fried sarladaises potatoes, selection of cheeses and crème brûlée for dessert (€42 pp. wine included).

Activities

What to see and do in the region ? It’s difficult to summarise in a few lines the infinite possibilities gifted by this region. We will be happy to help you plan your holiday to suit your preferences, but here are a few things you really should see and do: See the work of prehistoric man at Lascaux;
re-live the medieval era in Sarlat, Bergerac, the bastide towns or one of the thousand chateaus scattered across Dordogne; plunge (literally) down the Dordogne or Vézère river in a canoe or kayak; if you love food, don’t miss the famous Perigord street markets; wine lover? You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of local Bergerac wines. Then treat yourself to a tasting of sweet dessert wine at Monbazillac, or even a St-Emillion (only an hour away by car); If you’re more of an outdoor type, the region offers a multitude of foot paths, bridle tracks and motorbike trails; And if golf is your passion, there are several courses near La Closerie.

About us

Who has never dreamed of changing their life, their home, their work, everything?

Was it an irresistible impulsion for us, or a well-considered project? Difficult to say. A bit of both if we’re honest…

We were walking together in the countryside near Brussels.
We had just returned from the Perigord and we had seen a magnificent property.
It’s funny, we had just been talking about opening a bed & breakfast in a few years…
Why don’t we do it?
Right now!

A year and a half later, after countless hours’ discussion, 50 properties visited and 140 Mb of Excel sheets, we became – with pen in hand and knot in stomach – the proud owners of La Closerie de Baneuil.

Sure, we have had moments of doubt. What about the kids? And our house, friends and family? And quit our jobs, just like that? But all these challenges made us even more determined to go ahead and develop our project.

Today, whatever the time of day and wherever we cast our eye, we are totally taken by the charm and magic of La Closerie de Baneuil.

It is a place where we are so happy to have started our new life. We can’t wait to meet you and share it with you.
